Hugh Simpson (Contractors) Ltd unloaded windfarm components for Kennoxhead, South Kyle, Cumberhead and Kype Muir windfarm projects, working in Glasgow King George V docks and in the Port of Ayr.

Recently we have been involved in handling windfarm components for a total of 90 turbines of various size and configuration. Majority of works are now completed with some projects still ongoing.

Hugh Simpson (Contractors) Ltd was responsible to discharge the blades and towers from vessels arriving in the Port of Ayr and unloading all components to a storage area in both Glasgow KGV and Ayr. The components were then re- loaded to the transport to be delivered to the windfarm sites.

Our approach

• Single lifts for the turbine main components- Nacelles, Hubs, Drive trains and Tandem lifts for the Blades and Towers.
• Teams operating on the quayside (Ayr) discharging components to transport  and at storage.
• Re- loading as and when required by the customer to be transported to the windfarm site.
